What Is the Canine Care Certified Program?
Canine Care Certified (CCC) is a nationwide program established by animal welfare experts at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Its goal is to ensure that breeders adhere to rigorous, science-based standards for the health and well-being of dogs. By focusing on both physical and behavioral needs, this certification raises the bar for responsible breeding practices.

Why Does Canine Care Certification Matter?

• Higher Standards of Care: CCC guidelines go beyond basic requirements, detailing proper socialization, exercise, nutrition, and overall wellness. This ensures puppies have the best possible start in life.
• Independent Audits: To maintain CCC status, breeders undergo regular audits to confirm they meet all standards. Consumers can have greater confidence knowing a reputable third party has verified the facilities.
• Focus on Behavior & Socialization: Proper socialization helps puppies develop into well-rounded companions, reducing behavioral issues down the line.
• Health & Genetic Testing: CCC breeders stay current on veterinary care and genetic testing, which reduces the risk of avoidable illnesses.
• Transparency & Accountability: Breeders with CCC certification commit to transparent, ethical practices and meet strict facility requirements.

What Does This Mean for You as a Consumer?
By choosing a Canine Care Certified breeder, you gain peace of mind knowing your puppy comes from an environment committed to high welfare standards. This often translates to a healthier pet, fewer medical issues, and a smoother transition into your home.
